Veolia strengthens its leadership in green heating solutions in Romania with the acquisition of NISAL

> With this acquisition, Veolia will accelerate the deployment of innovative green energy projects, harnessing shallow geothermal energy combined with heat pump technology.

> Veolia is extending its geographical presence in central and western Romania for a complete and efficient service to local customers.

Veolia Romania has acquired NISAL, a Romanian company renowned for producing green thermal energy using advanced GeoExchange solutions. These solutions efficiently harness shallow geothermal energy combined with heat pump technology. With more than 20 projects completed or underway, NISAL is a leader in innovative energy solutions in Romania. The company's initiatives include projects to recover heat from sewage networks and modernize power plants and thermal points using heat pumps.

This new investment aligns with Veolia's new strategic plan GreenUp, which aims to accelerate the deployment of green energies - essential and beneficial for ecological transformation. It will allow Veolia to expand its operations in central and western Romania, improving its ability to serve a broader customer base and efficiently meet regional energy needs.

The acquisition process will run for five years. In the first phase, Veolia Romania will buy 80% of NISAL's shares, with the total takeover to be completed by the end of this period. The current management team, who have been instrumental in NISAL's success, will remain to ensure continuity and development of the business locally.

The acquisition of NISAL is an important step in accelerating project development and scaling our innovative green energy solutions. This move will respond to the growing demand for decarbonisation and energy efficiency and will contribute to achieving the goals set out in the GreenUp strategic program to ensure a real environmental transformation: decarbonisation, depollution, and resource regeneration,

said Mădălin Mihailovici, CEO of Veolia Romania.

NISAL, founded in 1996, offers complete design, execution, and maintenance services for heating and cooling installations for various buildings. Initially focused on gas boilers and air conditioning units, NISAL has evolved by incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as heat pumps, surface geothermal drilling and heat recovery units.

With over 80 employees, including engineers, project managers, and skilled technicians, NISAL has substantial resources, including three drilling rigs and a 4,000 m² workshop in Medias. This robust infrastructure will support Veolia's ambitious green energy projects and ensure progress towards achieving its environmental targets.

Joining forces with Veolia is a natural evolution for NISAL. Our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability will drive the development of advanced green energy solutions. This strategic partnership will ensure the continued innovation and development of the company and its employees

said Cristian Nistor, CEO of NISAL.
