Facing the accelerated urban development and climate change by identifying an efficient and competitive solution for heating, ventilation, and cooling of buildings that significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions and uses renewable energy has become a real challenge for real estate developers in Romania.
The Veolia solution
Veolia's response to this challenge was to develop the GeoExchange solution, which uses surface geothermal energy in combination with high-efficiency heat pumps.
The innovative solution developed by Veolia specialists to provide heating, ventilation, and cooling for buildings involves closed-loop geothermal drilling plots, horizontal piping connecting all drillings to the thermal station, as well as a thermal station equipped with heat pumps, heat exchangers, buffers, and circulation pumps.
This complex system can be applied to new residential projects and also to the existing one, in order to achieve higher energy efficiency rates and consumption optimization standards, thus being one of the most competitive green energy solutions available. Its implementation has resulted in 90% of fossil fuels being replaced by renewable sources in the first residential project where it was applied, thus demonstrating its revolutionary potential in the energy transformation of buildings.
The benefits
Our solution provides the nZEB (near-zero energy buildings) certification, which proves the developer's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and integrating renewable energy sources. It also guarantees low operating and maintenance costs and a 50% reduction in energy costs compared to traditional fossil fuel-based solutions.
Moreover, the GeoExchange technology provides long-term predictability of energy consumption costs and allows for scalability and flexibility, enabling adaptation to varying building needs and replicability on other sites. The benefits of the GeoExchange solution extends to the whole community by increasing the quality of life, optimizing the use of natural resources, and promoting renewable energy for a sustainable urban development.
